How to Plan Your Last Quarter of the Year on reMarkable — Without the Overwhelm
Share
October is here.
And if you're anything like most people, you're looking at the next three months thinking one of two things:
"I still have time to make this year count."
Or: "Where did the year go?"
Either way — Q4 is the quarter that decides how you feel about your year on December 31st.
Here's how to use your reMarkable to finish strong without burning out or drowning in lists.
Start With an Honest Review of Where You Are
Before you plan forward, look back.
Open a blank page and answer these three questions:
What actually got done this year? Not what you planned — what happened. Write it down. You've probably done more than you think.
What didn't happen — and do I still care? Some goals that felt urgent in January don't matter anymore. Let them go. Others are still worth finishing. Separate the two.
What are the two or three things that would make 2026 feel complete? Not ten things. Two or three. The ones that actually matter.
That last question is the one most people skip — and it's the most important one.
Set Your Q4 Focus (Not a List)
Most people go into Q4 with a long list of everything they didn't do yet.
That list will paralyse you.
Instead — pick three things. Maximum.
Three things that, if done by December 31st, mean Q4 was a success.
Write them on a dedicated page. Star it. Make it the first thing you see every Monday.
Everything else on your list exists — but these three are the filter. When you're deciding what to do with your time, you ask: does this move one of my three forward?
Break October, November, December Into Focus Months
Three months, three focuses.
You don't have to plan all of Q4 in detail right now. You just need to know what each month is for.
October — momentum month. Get the systems in place, clear the backlog, build the habits you need for the next two months.
November — execution month. Head down, do the work, protect your time.
December — finish and reflect. Complete what's completable, let go of what isn't, start thinking about 2027.
Write one sentence for each month on your weekly overview page. That's your compass when things get busy.
Protect Your Weekly Review
Q4 gets chaotic fast.
The one habit that keeps everything from falling apart: a weekly review. Even a short one.
Every Sunday or Friday — 15 minutes on your reMarkable:
- What happened this week?
- What's carrying forward?
- What are the top 3 priorities for next week?
That's it. Three questions, 15 minutes, every week.
When life gets full — and it will — this is the thing that keeps you from losing the thread entirely.
Keep Your Daily Page Simple
The temptation in Q4 is to plan more. More detail, more structure, more tracking.
Do the opposite.
Your daily page needs one thing: your top 3 priorities for the day.
Not a full schedule. Not a colour-coded system. Just three things, written at the top, that matter today.
Everything else can go in a brain dump below. But those three things are what the day is for.
Simple systems survive Q4. Complex ones don't.
One Last Thing
Q4 is also the time of year when most people are hardest on themselves.
The goals that didn't happen. The plans that fell apart. The year that didn't go the way they imagined.
Your reMarkable is a good place to put that too — not to dwell on it, but to process it honestly and move forward with clear eyes.
The last quarter of the year isn't for catching up on everything.
It's for finishing what matters.
