5 reMarkable Features You're Probably Not Using (But Should)

The reMarkable is designed to be simple.
But simple doesn't mean basic.
There are features built right into the device that most users never discover — not because they're hidden, but because nobody told them they exist.
Here are five worth knowing about.
1. Quick Find — Your Shortcut to Everything
This one changes how you navigate the device completely.
Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers.
A drawer opens with your 9 most recent files and 9 pinned favourites — accessible from anywhere on the device, without going back to the home screen.
If you use the same planner or notebook every day, pin it here. One swipe and you're in.
2. Instant Straight Lines — No Ruler Needed
Draw a line with your Marker. Any line.
Then — before you lift the tip — hold it still for a second.
The line snaps straight automatically.
Works for horizontal lines, vertical lines, and diagonals. Great for dividing pages, creating columns, or drawing quick tables without a template.
No setting to enable. Just draw and hold.
3. Undo and Redo With Your Fingers
Most reMarkable users reach for the toolbar to undo a mistake.
You don't have to.
Two-finger tap = undo Three-finger tap = redo
Fast, natural, and works anywhere you're writing. Once you build the habit, going back to the toolbar feels slow.
4. Tags on Folders — Added in January 2026
This one is brand new and almost nobody is using it yet.
Since OS 3.25, you can now add tags directly when you create a folder — not just after the fact.
Tap the plus icon from your home screen → Create folder → and you'll see options to add existing tags or create new ones right there.
If you've been tagging individual notebooks but leaving folders untagged, this closes the gap. Your whole filing system becomes searchable in one go.
5. Favourites — The Feature That Makes Everything Faster
Hold down on any file for 3 seconds.
Tap the star icon.
That file is now pinned to your Quick Find drawer (see tip #1) — accessible from anywhere on the device with a two-finger swipe.
Most users never star anything. Which means they're always navigating from the home screen, every single time.
Pick your 5 most-used files — your planner, your main notebook, your reference doc — and star them. The difference is immediate.
